According to the Kids: New Hampshire

This time in our According to The Kids series: New Hampshire! Our time in New Hampshire was short but memorable. Nestled in the White Mountains, this leg of the trip gave us cool mountain air, quiet mornings, and one of our favorite family hikes to date. The kids found fun in the little things, and the grown-ups were just happy to stretch their legs in the fresh air.

Here’s what stood out to each of us—according to the kids (and the parents too).

Sam’s Pick: Swimming in the Heated Pool

Sam’s top memory wasn’t a hike or a landmark (although look how cute he was on the hike below). It was swimming in the heated outdoor pool at our lodge. Morning dips, post-dinner swims, and floating under the open sky made it his favorite spot in the state. Sometimes the best part of vacation is right where you’re staying.

Andrew’s Pick: Local Card Shop

Andrew found a small, locally owned sports card shop and immediately made himself at home. He could have spent hours flipping through sports cards, talking collectibles, and picking out packs to open back at the hotel. It was a quiet, simple moment that made a big impression.

Paige’s Pick: The Hike to Diana’s Baths

This short, scenic trail in Bartlett, New Hampshire, follows a peaceful brook that winds its way through the woods, ending at a series of waterfalls and smooth rock formations. Paige loved climbing around the falls, dipping her toes in the water, and exploring every nook and cranny along the trail.

Mom & Dad’s Pick: The Same Hike, of Course

Diana’s Baths was a hit for the grown-ups too. It was accessible, beautiful, and just adventurous enough to keep the kids excited without wearing anyone out. The sound of rushing water, dappled light through the trees, and photo-worthy views made it our kind of trail.

If You’re Planning a Trip to New Hampshire

The White Mountains region is a great place for families—especially if you like the outdoors but want easy-to-manage hikes and small-town stops. Whether you’re visiting for fall colors or summer hikes, there’s plenty to explore at a relaxed pace.
