Fall, Football, and Finding Hope at Home

Fall is here! Whether you yell Roll Tide, War Eagle, or simply enjoy the cooler weather, it’s the perfect season to gather with family and friends and watch a good game from the comfort of home. There’s just something about football Saturdays, cozy evenings, and the crisp air that reminds us how important “home” really is.

At Spaces And Places, we believe home is more than just a house, it’s a place of stability, belonging, and new beginnings. That’s why our family not only helps people buy and sell homes, but also proudly supports the Neighborhood Christian Center (NCC) and its mission to create homes of hope for families in our community.

The Nehemiah Home and Transitional Housing

The Neighborhood Christian Center operates 3 transitional homes that serve as safe, supportive spaces for families and women in need of a fresh start.

The Nehemiah House has long provided “a refuge for single moms, offering not just a safe place to live, but also a stepping stone toward financial stability and independence”. Renovations this year include updated bathroom vanities, light fixtures, paint, ceiling repairs, furniture updates, and even a new roof. These updates prepare the home for a new family and symbolize a new chapter of stability and hope.

The Ruth House is a transitional home for women leaving incarceration or recovery who desire “a sober and supportive environment to help continue long term sobriety”. With mentoring, discipleship, and life skills training in areas like employment, budgeting, and relationships, women are equipped to pursue lasting independence. Danielle’s story is just one example of the transformational impact.

The Timothy House has served multiple purposes over the years, from hosting families to offering short-term transition for women moving from other programs. NCC leaders emphasize that they are always “very prayerful of who lives in our homes because we want to be good stewards of what God has given”.

These homes embody what it means to be the hands and feet: not just offering shelter, but building a foundation for restoration, discipleship, and self-sufficiency.

A Giveaway That Gives Back

In honor of this season and the work of the Neighborhood Christian Center, we’re proud to be a Touchdown Sponsor of the No Show Tailgate Party. Even better—we’re giving away one FREE Tailgate Party Meal! And when you win, we’ll also donate a meal to a neighbor in need through NCC.

Entering is easy: visit Spaces And Places, or scan the QR code below. The winner will be announced the week of October 20, with delivery on October 24—just in time for Saturday’s games.

Why It Matters

Fall is for football, family, and finding the place that feels most like home. For some, that’s buying or selling a house. For others, it’s being welcomed into a safe and supportive space like the Nehemiah or Ruth House.

As NCC shared, “We pray that the Nehemiah Home will continue to be a place of hope and refuge for many more families facing housing insecurity”. That vision is why we are honored to support their work and grateful for the community of volunteers, donors, and churches who make it possible.

If you’d like to learn more about supporting the Neighborhood Christian Center and its transitional housing ministry, visit their website or call 256-351-7633. Every prayer, donation, and act of service makes a difference.

At Spaces And Places, we’ll keep cheering on families—whether it’s on the football field, in their living rooms, or stepping into the fresh start of a new home.
