Greenwood House Reveal: Let There Be Light!

Home » Greenwood House Reveal: Let There Be Light!

Before our Greenwood reno, the living space was dark and segmented.  The kitchen opened into a den with a fireplace but the front room was a traditional large living room that worked in the 1960s but is no longer how most people live.

To make the space more livable, we created a large opening to the front, allowing more light to come in and more space to function.  A unique light fixture was added for a dining room table.  Custom woodwork accents the case opening and complements the new fireplace mantel.

For the kitchen, well, everything had to go.  Custom cabinets with a custom island were installed, making the space more functional and safe (no more countertops that can be lifted up and down!) New stainless steel appliances were added and a marble backsplash and granite countertops were installed.

It seems simple, but paint really does make a difference the feel of a space.  Painting all the walls and trim a consistent color with the cabinet colors, fireplace color and wainscoting accenting in a slightly darker color, bring the space together and lighten what was a dark and dingy space that lacked functionality.
