Ever been to New York City with kids? Thinking about it? This is for you!

We’re back from our New England trip, and we’re ready to give you the full download, through the eyes of our kids. Every few weeks, we’ll feature one of the seven states we visited in this “according to the kids” series. First up: New York!

We actually only had 10 hours in New York City, so we handed the reins over to the kids—Sam, Andrew, and Paige—to choose how we spent that time. Now, we’re sharing what stood out most from their whirlwind day in the Big Apple. Here’s what made their lists (and ours!).

Sam’s Favorite: The Empire State Building

Our first stop of the day was the Empire State Building, where Sam was amazed by the sweeping views of the city skyline. From the 86th-floor observatory, we could spot landmarks in every direction, including a clear view of the Statue of Liberty. This classic New York experience was a definite highlight and gave us all a new perspective on the city.

Andrew’s Favorite: Krispy Kreme in Times Square

Smack in the middle of the flashing lights and massive billboards of Times Square, we made a necessary stop at the Krispy Kreme flagship store. With its conveyor belt of hot, fresh doughnuts and giant “Hot Now” sign, it’s more than just a place to grab a snack—it’s a full-on donut experience.

Paige’s Favorite: 5th Avenue Lululemon

Paige couldn’t wait to visit the 5th Avenue Lululemon experiential store in the Flatiron District (peep her bag at Krispy Kreme). Spanning four floors, this location is more than a store—it includes community and gym spaces and a coffee bar.

Plus! Mom & Dad’s Favorites: Becco and Street Dogs

We wrapped up the day with a cozy dinner at Becco in Midtown, known for its extensive wine list and innovative pasta dishes. It was a relaxing, delicious end to a high-energy day.

But just as memorable were the classic New York City street vendor hot dogs we grabbed earlier. There’s something about eating on a busy Manhattan sidewalk that makes the experience feel perfectly authentic.

One City, 10 Hours, Endless Favorites

New York delivered a little bit of everything: iconic sights, sweet treats, and unique moments that matched each of the kids’ personalities. It was fast-paced, loud, and unforgettable—everything you’d expect from a day in the city that never sleeps.
