Finding activities that teenagers actually get excited about can be a challenge, especially when you are spending three weeks in the summer away from home and parents need to be able to work while away! We were fortunate that our extended stay in the Denver area delivered a mix of adventure, competition, sports, art, and outdoor experiences that kept everyone entertained.
If you are looking for things to do in Denver with your teenagers, here is what we liked best:
Bowl, Eat, and Hang Out at The Werks
If your teen loves friendly competition, start with a visit to The Werks. This unique venue combines boutique bowling lanes, great food, a fun social atmosphere with an outdoor patio for games and live music. It’s not your typical bowling alley—think modern vibes, craft burgers, and a space designed for hanging out as much as bowling.

High-Tech Mini Golf at Puttshack
Mini golf gets a major upgrade at Puttshack Denver. Using interactive technology and automatic scoring, every hole feels like a video game come to life. Teens love the competitive nature of the courses, while parents appreciate that there’s no need to keep score manually. Parents can also enjoy a drink and tasty food options at the bar or in a variety of nice seating areas while your teens play.
The RiNo location also puts you in one of Denver’s coolest neighborhoods for exploring afterward.

Catch a Rockies Game at Coors Field
Even teens who aren’t huge baseball fans can appreciate the atmosphere at Coors Field. The stadium offers incredible views of downtown Denver and the Rocky Mountains, plenty of food options, and one of the most relaxed game-day experiences in Major League Baseball. Summer evenings at the ballpark are a Denver tradition.

Step Into Another World at Meow Wolf
Few attractions capture a teenager’s imagination quite like Meow Wolf Denver. Part art installation, part immersive adventure, and part mystery, this massive interactive experience encourages visitors to touch, explore, and discover hidden stories throughout the exhibit. Expect lots of photos, surprises, and conversations afterward about what exactly just happened.

Spend the Day at Elitch Gardens
For thrill-seeking teens, Elitch Gardens is a must. Denver’s downtown amusement park features roller coasters, water rides, and enough adrenaline-packed attractions to fill an entire day. During the summer, the attached water park is a great way to cool off between rides.

Explore Denver by Electric Bike
One of the best ways to see the city is on two wheels. Renting electric bikes allows families to cover much more ground without exhausting younger riders. Cruise through Cherry Creek, ride along the South Platte River Trail, or explore Denver’s extensive network of bike-friendly paths. E-bikes make urban adventures accessible even for teens who aren’t hardcore cyclists.
Feel the Need for Speed at Indoor Kart Racing
When the weather isn’t cooperating, indoor kart racing is an easy win with teenagers. K1 Speed Denver offers electric go-karts capable of surprisingly fast speeds on professionally designed tracks.
Hit the Trails
Denver’s proximity to the mountains means incredible hiking opportunities are always nearby. Depending on your family’s fitness level, you can choose easy scenic walks, waterfall hikes, or more challenging mountain trails.
We will be sharing another post about hiking recommendations soon!
The Perfect Denver Teen Day
The beauty of Denver is that you can mix outdoor adventure, arts, sports, and entertainment all in a single day. Teenagers can be hard to impress—but Denver gives you a pretty good chance to enjoy and explore regardless of your teens interests.
